It has been four months since I was invited and first tried Google Wave. I remember the excitement of trying a new communications paradigm, something with the potential of revolutionizing email and collaboration as we know it. Today I logged on to Wave; there were no new Waves from my few contacts, sniff… sniff. But then again I did not start any new waves during the last three months either. Google will now send an optional email alert to your corresponding Google email account when you have a new Wave. The alert feature will not in itself be what will save the Wave and bring in the users (currently the beta testers) back in droves, but it is a small step in the right direction. Let’s see what else Google will do next to keep pushing this idea forward. If you are new to Wave, watch these videos, the first is a parody, the second is a legitimate Google Wave intro.
