Subject Cup of coffe

Subject: Cup of coffee
Thanks to my friend in LA for sending me this…
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor
said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups.
Now if life is coffee, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change. Some times, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."
So, don't let the cups drive you... enjoy the coffee instead.

A new bloggler in the house

It never ceases to amaze me what kids can do with technology today. After I struggled to learn how to customize the blog, I went over the steps with Keita so they can do further decoration of his blog. He and his friends soaked it like a Sponge [Bob Square Pants].  Obviously they can do that because they do not get side-tracked by analyzing every single step in the process or any preconceived notions of how it should work. Anyway Keita and his friends are having fun blogging. Go BlOgGeRs Go!

Not too early to blog

For a short period of time I was uncertain if I was doing the right thing, but now I am sure. It is not only fun but it is also inspirational and educational. This weekend my kid and I spent time together setting up his own blog. The design was a combined effort but the final touch was definitely his. The time of the year could not be better as Halloween is his favorite holiday. It will give him inspiration for a few posts. Click on Keita's Blog to visit his blog.

One of those unique opportunities

This is one of those unique opprtunities. I have allways been interested in astronomy and I wish I could follow related news closer than I do. But once in a while the news finds me, this one, was just mailed to me by my friend in California... "NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS AGAIN".
Well, that was in 2003... :-(
[August 25, 2003: At 09:51 universal time (UT) on August 27th, Earth makes its closest approach to Mars in nearly 60,000 years. The two worlds, center-to-center, will be just 56 million kilometers apart--a short distance on the scale of the solar system. The last people to come so close to Mars were Neanderthals.]
But don't be disapointed, Mars is getting closer again. Not a record as in 2003 but very close. It comes close to earth every two years. So I will definetly take a peek. I hope you will too.
[June 6, 2005: By the time you finish reading this sentence, you'll be 25 miles closer to the planet Mars.
Earth is racing toward Mars at a speed of 23,500 mph, which means the red planet is getting bigger and brighter by the minute. In October, when the two planets are closest together, Mars will outshine everything in the night sky except Venus and the Moon. (You're another 50 miles closer: keep reading!)...] READ MORE...

Bad Guys in Black are Overconfident

I finally remembered why the scene where Anakin lost to Obi-One in the last Star Wars episode was so familiar to me. It is very similar to the fight, actually not much of a fight, between King Arthur and the Black Knight in the "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" movie. There, the Black Knight (like Vader) keeps fighting even as he loses his limbs. Is it that bad guys in black don't know when to give up? The cool black look makes them overconfident?

I've searched the web and found the scene. It may refresh your memory.

Girlfriends are good for your health

I was riding the subway today when I got a glimpse of this newspaper article about a study that claims "Female friendships have positive effect on health". Don't get your hopes up guys, the study goes on to say that the positive affect is found only on women. Besides, you know very well if your wife finds out about your girlfriend that will not have a positive affect on your health. Learn more.
